The Association’s 2022 Annual Retreat culminated in a sumptuous dinner at Elmham House on Thursday 13th October.
The Walsingham Association are immensely grateful to Father Andrew Kingham who led the 4 day Retreat with the theme: “Come Holy Spirit; Living the Spiritual Life Fruitfully“
Each day began with the Angelus and Morning Prayer ending the night’s Great Silence. After breakfast the retreatants proceeded to the Basilica where Father Andrew delivered one of several illuminating talks about the Holy Spirit: who is the Holy Spirit, what does the Holy Spirit do, and of living the Beatitudes in a fruitful and spiritual life.
Following the noon Mass the afternoon continued with a further talk – with the exception of Tuesday which included a visit the Anglican Shrine for the service of sprinkling.
There then followed a period of reflection at the Church of the Annunciation in the village with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, the Holy Rosary and an opportunity for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
The Angelus and Evening Prayer were said before the retreatants partook of their evening meal. The day culminated with Night Prayer before the Great Silence was maintained until the following morning.
The retreatants and Trustees were joined at the traditional Retreat Dinner on the Thursday evening by Monsignor Moger, members of the clergy and other guests of the Association and the Trust.
Mr Tim McDonald thanked Fr Andrew and the staff at Elmham House for their hospitality.
Lastly Trustee and Treasurer Cyril Wood presented the clergy of the Church of the Annunciation with a cheque in appreciation for their kindness in helping to host the Retreat.
